The AASLE is open to all students who desire to enhance their leadership skills; however, the focus is on the cultural history and leadership of African Americans.
In addition to business professional attire for 3 days, casual attire, personal items and an open mind, please bring a laptop (if you own one), notebook, writing instruments and a flash drive.
One of the goals of AASLE is to prepare our participants to be leaders, internationally and domestically. Dressing the part plays a very significant role in how one is perceived. For that reason, the attire for the AASLE is business professional during all planned conference events including the Banquet.
A NOTE ABOUT THE BRUNCH: The Brunch is a classy event where dignitaries and prominent community leaders will be in attendance. Students should wear their “Sunday Best,” i.e. very nice business attire or traditional African garb during it.
SPECIAL NOTE: Please wear tasteful casual attire during “free time,” exercise sessions, conference party and in the hospitality suite.
Business professional attire is defined as:
- A pant/skirt suit
- A Dress with sleeves
- A Skirt/pants with blouse and blazer
- Nice flats (not slippers), slingbacks, open/closed-toe heels less than 3 inches
- A suit with tie,
- Nice dress shoes with socks
During the AASLE, students will be placed into groups. Each group will be responsible for giving a presentation during the third day (Saturday) of the Experience. The group meeting time has been allotted for preparation. More information will be provided during AASLE..
AASLE officially concludes on Sunday after the Closing Reflections, Evaluations and Leadership Charge. It should conclude no later than 11am.
