Zephia Bryant, MEd – Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Zephia Bryant currently serves as the Founder and CEO of the Bryant Educational Leadership Group. Ms. Bryant is a Higher Education practitioner with over 17 years of experience. Ms. Bryant started the Bryant Educational Leadership Group (BELG) in 2012. The organization was started based upon the principle, we stand on the shoulders of giants, and to whom much is given, much is required. Her vision was to create an organization that would develop leaders of all ages and would become the premier resource for leadership education and primary producer of global leaders for the next generation.

In her last position, Ms. Bryant served as the Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Life at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). She worked directly with the Vice Chancellor on issues of diversity and multiculturalism. Previously, she served as the Director of the Multicultural Success Center at IUPUI, where she was responsible for the planning and development of the new Center. She provided leadership in multicultural awareness and diversity education, leadership training and development. She was responsible for managing the center and ensuring it serves as an advocate for under-represented ethnic minorities, students of color, women, and gay/lesbian students by offering educational and social programming aimed at the personal development, retention, and success of its students. Before her appointment at IUPUI, Ms. Bryant actively served the campus of McDaniel College, as the Director of Multicultural Services, located in Westminster, Maryland.

She has also served as Assistant Director of Multicultural/International Student Services at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While at James Madison University, she directed the African-American Female Institute for Learning and Development where she had an opportunity to impact the lives of hundreds of young women.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Ms. Bryant graduated from Wenonah High School, received her B.S. in Management and a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Education from Jacksonville State University.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at Indiana State University.

Ms. Bryant has Diversity Training Certification from the National Multicultural Institute and previously co-chaired the Washington Regional Task Force Against Campus Prejudice comprised of over 30 institutions throughout the states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Over the years she has received numerous awards such as James Madison University’s local NAACP Outstanding Faculty Member, the Madison Best Award for Leadership in Employment Parity, the Drum Major Community Achiever Award, presented by the YMCA of Central Maryland, the Visionary Woman Award presented by IUPUI’s Student African American Sisterhood, and the Campus Influence Award presented by the Sigma Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc.  She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and several other professional associations. She has also served as the national programming Vice-President for the John D. O’Bryant National Think Tank for Black Professionals in Higher Education on Predominantly White Campuses.

Ms. Bryant believes in all that you do, if you put 100% in, you will get 100% out.
